Main Project Features

The ADB-financed technical assistance supports the development of diversified, resilient and sustainable critical minerals and clean energy technology supply chains across Asia and the Pacific. The Kazakhstan component focuses on developing a Foundational Strategy for the country's critical minerals sector, including sector diagnostics, mineral prioritisation, market opportunities, institutional frameworks, and enabling infrastructure requirements. The infrastructure assessment covers transport networks, electricity supply, water resources and associated utilities serving mineral deposits, mining operations and processing facilities. It examines infrastructure availability, connectivity gaps, capacity constraints, and opportunities for coordinated infrastructure development. The assignment aims to identify strategic priorities, investment needs and recommendations to strengthen Kazakhstan's critical minerals value chains, attract investment and support integration into regional and international markets.
