Main Project Features

Following an analysis of passenger flows in Astana, it has been concluded that 20 intersections and 30 streets had to be redesigned, with various levels of complexity. A team of local consultants was then engaged to prepare detailed design documents for the above objects. 8 intersections required a redesign of trolleybus lines, 5 included the creation of additional turning lanes.

Activities Performed

Provided overall leadership, coordination, and support to the project teams comprising designers, land and quantity surveyors, environmental specialists, and utility engineers in delivering the following outputs: (i) collection of field data (topographical surveys, geotechnical surveys, etc.); (ii) designing longitudinal profile, cross-sections, pavement structure; (iii) designing utilities (power and communication lines, water, heating, sewerage, etc); (iv) preparing full construction cost tables, including civil works, relocation of utilities, land acquisition, etc.; (v) environmental impact assessment; (vi) preparing the bill of quantities for contractors; (vii) providing designer supervision services to contractors; (viii) construction supervision on site. Liaised closely with the Mayor of Astana, Construction Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and representatives of the local construction industry.
