Main Project Features
In coordination with the Centre for Systemic Research of the President Office of Kazakhstan and the Road Committee of the Ministry of Transport, a screening study has been organized to identify bottlenecks and potential in the rural road sector. The output of the study was a national rural road development plan for 2005-2015.
Activities Performed
Led and managed the team of 5 national experts in the execution of the following activities: (i) spot surveys of local road network; (ii) developing a techno-economic prioritization model for planning investment projects to rehabilitate the local road network in Kazakhstan; (iii) preparing midterm financing plan for local roads to 2015; (iv) formulating recommendations on institutional reform of road management and road maintenance system at a regional level; and (v) conducting seminars to present/discuss draft local road development program.
