Main Project Features

The study aimed to develop methods of investment prioritization for the local road maintenance, repair, reconstruction, and construction including institutional, financial, and management review of road sector at the province level as we as the assessment of the investment needs for routine maintenance and midterm repair of rural roads.

Activities Performed

Led the local team and contributed to (i) review of international road prioritisation methodologies; (ii) developing national local road investment prioritisation methodology for Kazakhstan; (iii) review of implementation mechanisms for investment prioritization techniques on a regional level; and (iv) test run of the model in Kyzylorda oblast. Formulated recommendations for regional road authorities to improve the efficiency of their maintenance management practices.
